If the youth have everything they need to succeed, how much impact could they make?
Last September 23, the 2030 Youth Force in the Philippines Inc. kicked off a nationwide road trip entitled, "#OnTheWheels: Incubating Innovations for the Global Goals" in Central Luzon. This project intends to visit some youth in the key regions of the country.
Emerging young leaders from the different provinces of Region III gathered at the Angeles University Foundation in Angeles, Pampanga where they engaged with their fellow youth, and conceptualized projects for their communities.
The workshop started with an overview of the 2030 Youth Force, the United Nations' Sustainable Development Goals, and the role of the youth in achieving the said Goals.
Social entrepreneurship was also presented as an approach towards economic inclusion of the youth, and acceleration of the implementation of the SDGs. This was followed by the presentation of national and regional baseline data regarding the Global Goals.
With the data calibrated in a local and regional context, participants were guided by the SDG ambassadors in the project conceptualization phase. Select ideas will be incubated with the mentors and partners of the 2030 Youth Force in the Philippines Inc. until the projects are executed in the community.
Simultaneously, a Global Goals Fair was held where visitors engaged with fellow participants in dialogues about the SDGs. Interactive booth activities contributed further in the appreciation of the youth for the Goals, and their respective advocacy.
The SDG Caravan Pampanga Leg, entitled "#OnTheWheels: Incubating Innovations for the Global Goals" is presented by the 2030 Youth Force in the Philippines Inc., in partnership with the United Nations Development Programme (UNDP), Angeles University Foundation and the AUF Student Council.
Next stop: Collegio de San Juan De Letran in Calamba, Laguna for the youth of CALABARZON (Region IV-A). See you there!
