Magna Kultura is an education-for-development NGO founded in 2003 by Dickie Guado, an artist, businessman, and social and cultural entrepreneur.
Through native sports events, art activities, and other socio-cultural activities, Magna Kultura aims to develop social entrepreneurial skills and a love for Filipino culture in the people and communities they work with such as villages, schools, people's organizations, cooperatives, transport service groups, small retail stores and community vendors. These activities serve as a springboard for making people interested in working for the betterment of their communities and organizations. They are then introduced to social enterprise efforts intended to empower them as members of these communities. These social enterprise efforts include leadership training, livelihood training, and CSR efforts at the grassroots level.
The native sports activities (Larong Pinoy) are the heart of Magna Kultura. Competitions for patintero, tumbang preso, piko, spa, holen and other street games are organized among communites, organizations, and even offices. Through this effort, Magna Kultura hopes to instill the value of patriotism and to encourage younger generations to keep this part of the Filipino culture close to heart. The resource section of the organization's website provides links to pages on Filipino street games. They also hold corporate Palarong Pinoy festivals.
Currently, over 1,500 artists and educators and 80,000 small and medium enterprises are working with Magna Kultura.
